The Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

*Results may vary

More Gentle lasers have been sold around the world than ANY other hair removal laser.**

How does Laser Hair Removal work?

There are 3 phases of hair growth:

Anagen: The growth stage, when a strand of hair is at its strongest

Catagen: The transitional stage, when that strand begins to come loose from the follicle

Telogen: The shedding stage, when the strand falls out and is replaced by a new hair

Gentle Hair Removal is a laser treatment targeting the hair follicle at the root and combines the power you need with speed and comfort you can trust, regardless of your skin type!  Gentle Hair Removal is easy on your skin, delivering results with less discomfort.

Not all Laser Hair Removal technologies are equal

You may hear the term “Laser Hair Removal” and be led to believe there is one standard solution available. In fact, this is not true and the technologies available can be categorized into 3 types:

IPL: Intense Pulsed Light

Diode: 800 nm or 810 nm wavelength

Alexandrite & Nd:YAG: ALEX is a 755 nm wavelength and NdYAG is a 1064 nm wavelength

High speed laser hair removal, without compromising performance

When it comes to offering fast and effective laser hair removal, every specification matters. The dual wavelength of the GentleMax Pro allows us to treat a wider range of patients with one device. Due to the industry’s largest spot size of 24mm, tremendous fluence options and pulse width range, The GentleMax Pro gives a whole new meaning to high-speed laser hair removal.

Larger spot sizes results in happier customers and increased revenue

The larger treatment spot sizes now available on the Gentle Pro Systems can significantly decrease patient treatment time without a decrease in efficacy. Quicker treatments times allow for greater business growth in my practice.

What to Expect:

Why GentleMax Pro is Better

  • ALL Skin Types:

The GentleLase Pro, GentleYAG Pro, and GentleMax Pro lasers provide the flexibility of having a 755nm Alexandrite and/or 1064nm Nd:YAG where needed. The 755nm Alex is the gold-standard for Hair Removal on skin types 1,2 and 3. Whereas the Nd:YAG is ideal for skin types 4,5 and 6.

  • No Gel:

The Gentle series of laser devices offers a patented Dynamic Cooling DeviceTM, which uses cooling bursts of liquid cryogen, making this a solution for the most gentle laser hair removal treatment available today! Also, without the need for gel during treatment, you save yourself the time and mess that comes with applying, re-applying, and cleaning up the gel.

  • Speed & Performance:

Not only are you saving time without the need for gel, but the Gentle series offers a Large Spot hand piece (is this not all one word?) with spot sizes of 20mm, 22mm and 24mm.  These larger spot sizes allow you to perform treatment of large areas (such as legs and backs) efficiently and effectively. There is no other device that provides this unparalleled performance with such short treatment times.

  • Better Clearance:

Pulse duration is the time period laser energy is delivered into the skin.  Based on the theory of Thermal Relaxation Time (TRT), laser energy delivered faster is optimally absorbed by smaller structures within the skin, such as hair follicles.  In other words, the pulse duration should be shorter than the TRT of the target for maximum selectivity.  Most hair removal lasers available today do not offer pulse durations fewer than 10 ms, much less 5 ms; and many that do, struggle in other laser parameters equally important for hair removal efficacy such as deliverable fluence.  The Gentle series offers a 3 ms pulse duration!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What can I expect during laser hair removal treatment?

Treatments take place in your practitioner’s office. Your practitioner will use a small handpiece to deliver an intense but gentle burst of energy onto targeted areas of the skin. Therapeutic heat then safely and effectively removes unwanted hair.

  • Is Gentle Hair Removal safe for darker skin tones?

Yes! Other laser hair removal treatments don’t cater to all skin types, but there’s a Gentle Hair Removal treatment that’s right for you, no matter what your skin tone. Check out the infographic below to learn what your skin type is, and talk to your practitioner about which Gentle treatment is right for you.

  • How long does a Gentle laser hair removal treatment take?

A treatment can take as little as a few minutes to as long as an hour, depending on the treatment area and the condition being treated. Both legs can often be treated in as few as 15 minutes, as can an average-sized man’s back.

  • Is Gentle laser hair removal painful?

Some patients may feel slight discomfort, which has been compared to snapping a rubber band against the skin. This discomfort resolves quickly and is minimized by our patented Dynamic Cooling Device. Be sure and feel free to consult talk this over with your practitioner.

  • How many treatments will I need?

Multiple treatments are required to achieve the full hair removal effect. That’s because hair grows in the three stages mentioned above:

    1. Anagen (the growth stage): Hair is thickest and darkest, so laser treatments are most effective.
    2. Catagen (the transitional stage): The hair begins to loosen from its follicle.
    3. Telogen (the shedding stage): The hair falls out to make room for new growth.

The hairs on your body are not always at the same stage, so you’ll need to undergo a few treatments, an average of six weeks apart, to catch them all in the growth stage.

  • How do I prepare for a Gentle Hair Removal treatment?

For about six weeks prior to treatment, you should avoid plucking, electrolysis or waxing. On the day of your treatment, skin should be clean-shaven and thoroughly cleansed of any makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics or self-tanning products. Apply sunblock (SPF 30 or above) before your treatment.
Do not expose the treatment area to sunlight or tanning booth light prior to or immediately after treatment. If you have a history of herpes simplex virus, a prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed.

  • What can I expect after treatment?

A cool compress or gel pack may be applied for additional comfort after your treatment. Any redness or swelling should resolve in a few hours.

  • What precautions should I take after treatment?

After your laser treatment, prevent sun exposure by applying sunblock (SPF 30 or above). In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers. Your practitioner may advise additional precautions.

  • Are there side effects?

Permanent side effects are rare and may include redness, swelling, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering and purpura (laser bruise) in the treated area—these usually do not last more than a few days. Your practitioner will have more information about potential side effects.

  • Are these treatments covered by insurance?

Most insurance companies do not offer reimbursement for cosmetic procedures. Consult your insurance carrier for conclusive information.
